Congratulations to members of the the Harry Ainlay Sustainability Team (HASTe) who won this years KidWind Challenge put on by the International Wind Energy Academy and Lethbridge College. The competition was held at City Hall in Edmonton on March 5, 2014 where they competed against 6 other teams from various high schools in the Edmonton area. The team designed, built, and tested their own wind turbines in a 4 foot by 4 foot fabricated wind tunnel. Not only did they get the most "juice" out of their turbine, they impressed the judges with their thorough knowledge of wind turbines and wind energy generation in Alberta. They are seen here accepting their award from the panel of judges including representatives from BluEarth Renewables Inc., EcoAmmo, Lethbridge College, Suncor Energy, Sustainival/Sustainitech, and TransAlta.
